Nestled between Maroochydore and Noosa, Coolum Beach is a vibrant beachside suburb on the stunning Sunshine Coast.

Renowned for its relaxed atmosphere, picturesque beaches, strong sense of community and sunny climate, the area is home to some of the best surf breaks in Queensland. In addition to the tranquil bays and pandanus-lined cliffs, a lifeguard-patrolled surf beach is situated in the main township.

Boasting a broad array of natural landscapes, Coolum is ideal for strolling through bush trails and sandy beaches, exploring rock pools, surfing and fishing. It is also home to a number of endangered species of flora and fauna, including loggerhead turtles, which can be sighted poking their heads above the water from vantage points such as Point Perry.

Each year, thousands of whales migrate off the coastline, breaching and playing in the turquoise waters, much to the delight of locals. Native birdlife is also in abundance, with white-bellied sea eagles, ospreys, sulphur-crested cockatoos and rainbow lorikeets just some of the many breeds that call Coolum home.

The grand outline of Mount Coolum offers a perfect backdrop to the bustling coastal village, the 208-metre-high ancient volcanic dome one of the area’s most iconic sights.

The township itself features a range of shops as well as parks, a civic centre and surf lifesaving club. For those who enjoy dining out, the eclectic cafés, bars and restaurants offer first-rate cuisine, with Mediterranean, Turkish, Thai and modern Australian flavours just some of the many options available.

The popular twilight markets are held regularly throughout summer, showcasing handmade goods, arts and crafts, woodwork, jewellery, fresh produce and entertainment in Tickle Park. Hosted by the Lioness Club of Coolum Beach, all proceeds are donated to the community.

Residents can also take advantage of the world-class golf courses nearby, and indulge in a spot of platform fishing from First Bay’s characteristic coffee rock landscape.
